I don’t know the date of my last post, but it had to be around May or June because I still had the VehiCROSS. The VehiCROSS is gone, by the way...it hated me and I hated it, which was a real shame because of how badly I wanted to love it. And that made me hate all cars for about six months.
I had basically resigned myself to the idea that cars, as a hobby, was never going to work out for me. And it still might not! My attention span is short, I get tired of things, I fall in and out of love very quickly.
But as Michael Scott once said, I am ready to be hurt again.
I have my Tahoe (just went over 200k!), and I have a rented trailer. Tomorrow I go get something that people all either love or hate, or think is okay. I’ll post about it tomorrow, but here are your hints:
It is American. It’s engine is not American. It is from the 1980s.
Very much looking forward to tomorrow.

You bought a DeLorean ? :P
![]() 12/20/2019 at 19:33 |

I was going to say DeLorean but they weren't RHD.

Ooo....you have me intrigued good sir...
![]() 12/20/2019 at 19:37 |

Actually a good guess given the non-American engine. I am NOT a DeLorean fan though, I’d rather have the car I’m getting even though a DeLorean is worth quite a lot more

Until last clue I thought Aztek. Which is epic. But with the last clue, I’ll guess: something Dodge, maybe.

I should have added ‘I’m paying $500 for it’ as a hint.

Also, I’m sorry the vehicross left a sour taste in your pallet for automotive hobbies. I have automotive hobbies but just ignore them.
Good luck with your next adventure.

That doesn’t help.
Id day maybe Vega Cosworth but I think think that was 70s. Regardless, cant wait to see what it is!

For anybody who knows my automotive history, an 80s Mopar is a real safe bet...I’ve had three Daytonas, a Shadow, and a Rampage. This time it’s not a Mopar, but I would rather have the direct Mopar competitor . That hint means literally nothing while sounding like something, haha.

Chrysler TC by Maserati

It was a real ‘don’t meet your heroes’ moment. I had always wanted one, so that I HATED the truck was a massive let down. Like I didn’t just not care for it, I loathed it. I was also in a bad spot, so it was maybe 80% the truck’s fault.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 19:46 |

I haven’t decided if the payoff is going to be worth the tease. I mean I think what I’m buying is massively cool, but maybe it’ll be a let down? I hope people think it’s as neat as I do.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 19:47 |

You’re on the right path in terms of weird or uniqueness, but I can’t think of many cars more different than this than a TC.

I’d love a Cosworth Vega, I think they were 75-76ish? Vega is on the right track though, actually.

cadillac allante or cimarron

This is the closest guess so far.

Jeep DJ with the Volkswagen engine?
![]() 12/20/2019 at 20:06 |

That would be extremely cool, but no. It’s a car, I can say that.

Laser or Conquest?
![]() 12/20/2019 at 20:32 |

That’s backwards, Euro car with an American motor. Also I had one once, one is enough, haha.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 20:32 |

Not a Mopar product.

My guess is a dodge 2000 GTX , aka a Mitsubishi gallant. Or a colt, also powered by Mitsubishi. Or no, wait! It's a truck! It's a raider? Those are sweet, I hope it's a raider.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 20:39 |

Dodge Omni.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 20:39 |

It’s not a Ford EXP, is it? Fwd, domestic with euro engine, competitor to the Daytona...
That would be seriously cool. Never seen an EXP in person.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 20:42 |
|
I’ve often considered getting an EXP, though they basically no longer exist in New England. I will say that the EXP is about as obscure as the car I’m buying. The EXP was probably more obscure in their day, but I see neither of either now so about equal.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 20:46 |

A 2000 GTX would be neat. Not a truck so not a Raider, also a made in USA domestic car (I think, it was also made in Mexico but that may not have been for ones sold in America).

God I wish I had a GLH, though I did have a Shelby Charger-powered Rampage. Not a Mopar though.

Pontiac Sunbird turbo (opel designed engine) , or a Chevrolet Nova that’s the rebadged toyota assembled in California
![]() 12/20/2019 at 21:10 |

The Nova was assembled in America? I learned something today.
![]() 12/20/2019 at 21:50 |

Yep! But you didn't mention anything about the sunbird.....
![]() 12/20/2019 at 22:00 |

The Sunbird is close! Closest yet.

Is it some weird GM thing? I hope its a weird GM!
![]() 12/20/2019 at 22:17 |

It is, probably more because of its current state than what it is model-wise, VERY weird GM stuff.

Ford Probe?
![]() 12/21/2019 at 06:02 |

That would have been great, but no. What I’m getting is a hatchback though.

Based on some of your latest replies, I’m going to guess again..
Buick skyhawk hatch with the turbo or na sohc engine from opel?
Side note: skyhawk is one of the greatest names for a car - ever.

I had a mid-80s colt powered by Mitsubishi once, can confirm it was a lot of fun. Sadly it gave its life to save mine

How did I not ever know about this car??? It sounds amazing!!!
![]() 12/21/2019 at 12:52 |

Please tell me it is an AMC Sprirt. Had a relative with one. When the VW engine gave up, she put a big block in it.

L ike most fwd economy sporty cars from the 80's, they were treated as disposable and dumped instead of being repaired.
The turbo model is particularly rare and was only made in 1987. I've never seen one in person.
